Who We Are

Rachael Cawley

Years  spent taking her dog for daily walks has allowed Rachael to view her local environment from a perspective diametrically opposed to her pre  retirement city commute.

Rachael’s  paintings reflect incidents she’s witnessed, collected or read. Her paintings are simply the visualisation of her thoughts. A love of clutter, archaeology, narrative and intrigue coalesce to recreate a captured moment in time.

Tim Stephens

Tim’s artwork is inspired by the rich character of local landmarks, landscapes, and nature—often weaving these elements together into a single piece.

Drawing on a wide range of influences, his current style blends a love of natural forms and contours with expressive detail and a generous dash of humour. He works primarily with fine-liner pens to create outlines, textures, and shadows, then brings each piece to life with ProMarker ink pens, paint pens, and acrylics. Some works are digitally coloured, depending on the finish he envisions for the final piece.

Joanna Gardiner

Jo loves to paint, mainly in oils which is her preferred medium. Much of her work is still life but she also enjoys figurative work and landscape.

Painting for Jo is escapism. To switch off the noise and stress of everyday life, her happy place of calm. She draws inspiration from the play of light, reflection or shadow of any given subject. For her, that holds the essence and beauty of the subject... and that in itself could be anything really. But to attempt to capture that very essence is what it’s all about.

Claire Brass

Eight years ago Claire discovered oil painting and fell in love. She paints every day if she can, working on capturing colour and light effects, preferably from life.

She likes to paint still life, florals and landscapes.

Rachel Garstin

Rachel is a Fluid Artist. This is a (wonderfully messy!) form of art that uses layers of poured paint of varying densities, which are then manipulated by tilting, blowing, spinning and swiping to create organic and abstract colour combinations and shapes.

Fluid art is an exciting style where the outcome can be unpredictable, so watching the designs and colours unfold, often in unexpected ways, is one of the most satisfying and fun aspects.

Sarah Souter

Sarah paints in acrylics, plein air whenever possible and finishes works in her studio.

She has a background as a Graphic Designer and a successful business selling prints of the local area.  Her motivation to paint comes from noticing the dramatic and the colourful in a landscape and a desire to do more than take a photo, to somehow capture in paint the intense colours and the atmosphere of a place.

Anna Young

Anna is a mixed media artist who loves experimenting with printing, collage, acrylics, and watercolours. For her, creating is a way to slow down and find moments of calm in the midst of life’s craziness. She approaches art as play—joyful exploration that can also result in wall-worthy pieces!

In addition to creating art, Anna also teaches art running successful gel printing workshops and a regular children's art club.

Alison Merry

Alison's paintings are an energetic expression of what she is seeing, feeling and experiencing - the changing cycles of the seasons, landscapes and life translated into form, shape, colour and movement. Contemporary/ abstract in style, her paintings have multiple layers of paints, inks and hand painted collage papers, which are built upon and then scraped and sanded back to reveal a depth and history. Each one authenticity unique.

Alison enjoys the exciting sense of exploration, interpretation and imagination. A curious place where she can both find herself and loose herself self at the same time in her painting. She is a huge advocate of the connection between art (be it painting or music etc) as a wonderful medium to enhance the wellbeing of our lives.

Amanda Body

Abstracted Landscapes are Amanda's thing. Big marks + bold colours. Dynamic translation of the countryside, reflecting the weather and the identity of the location. Amanda's work is always evolving but colour is her main driver.

Her drive to create is usually in response to physically being somewhere amazing. She sketches a lot when out and about and snaps endlessly with her phone... and sometimes she finds she's thinking about one sketch in particular and so makes time to paint it. Each one is individual and graphic.

Teresa Crichton

Teresa learned how to draw botanically correct art using coloured pencils during lockdown. Now instead of using a magnifying glass and a pinpoint pencil she is splashing paint around creating abstracts using acrylics, graphite, charcoal and more! She uses layers of paint allowing each to dry before adding more to create depth and interest.

She loves to look at vibrant juicy colours on walls, and loves that people want her work in their homes.
